It's a complete fabrication that most very highly paid managers bring exceptional talent to their organisation. For many years I worked as a very highly paid software developer in the City, and was well aware of managers who received considerably more than my very generous remuneration. Almost without exception they were neither particularly bright or talented. If they had any exceptional skill it was a consummate ability to brown-nose their way up the greasy pole. I doubt things are any different in the NHS.

@1961-v9k My sister was a nurse in the NHS until she retired very recently. Likewise, she definitely had enough material for a book. In her position I'd have definitely written one and made myself a nice pension supplement.
