Is there strong scientific evidence that, in the absence of the Delta variant, another wouldn't have simply taken its place? No there isn't! It's rather like removing the winner from the London marathon. All this means is that someone else will cross the finish line first, followed by lots more, who would take their place if they too were removed from the race. Variants are nothing more than a "get out of jail" card for dishonest and cowardly politicians, who have plenty of schmucks that will believe anything they say. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
