  1. Shame on you Dr. John, saying that education can be deferred! As you well know, by the time you took your degrees brain development had long since more or less plateaued. But brain development is much more active in children, so robbing them of school time is a very serious concern. You are certainly right about the best minds not getting into the highest positions. One just has to look at our PM and cabinet ministers, and Dominic Cummings. As for your complaint about lack of reasoned arguments, this is as much true, if not more so, for the policies pursued by most governments. You say what the declaration is calling for is an experiment, but Sweden, which in very large measure has adopted this approach, indicates that it's likely to be a successful one. What we certainly do know is that most governments' lockdown experiments have been abysmal failures. The virus has come roaring back, and on top of that they have buggered their economies to hell, and are still buggering them even more. Well that's my thoughts. I'm off to sign the declaration.
