It's easy to be wise after the event, but if something like this has been foreseen for years why weren't Ukrainian pilots trained to fly western fighters years ago, so that they could have simply got into a cockpit of one painted in Ukrainian colours and kicked some Russian arse. While one can understand not supplying aircraft from Poland, surely a month is sufficient to have put a few pilots through an intensive training course in a NATO country and painted a few fighter jets.
