  1. An essential part of being a democracy is that people have the right to insult officials and politicians, be they a lowly clerk or the head of state. Turkey has proved time and time again that it is not a democracy. I'm sure that I'm far from the only one who would like to see NATO swap Turkey for Sweden and Finland, two proper democracies, rather than allow Turkey to block their membership.
