  1. Russia has an excellent track record of either murdering its own returned POWs or sending them off to Gulags, where they probably die anyway, but just more slowly. Also, Putin's Russia is as bad, if not worse than Stalin's Russia, which murdered 22,000 Polish officers. So I don't hold out that much hope for Russia honouring the articles of war, in regard to those who surrendered, let alone exchanging them. And let's not forget that, unlike the reluctant soldiers they would be getting back, these Ukrainian soldiers are incredibly brave and tenacious, and would be anxious to return to active duty ASAP.
