  1. The Wagner group is definitely not in a good place. While Putin is very happy to see them soften up Ukrainian forces, he certainly doesn't want them grabbing the glory of Russia's one and only victory in months, if it happens, and eclipsing both him and his regular forces. Maybe the penny has dropped and Wagner's boss realises that this is precisely why he is being deprived of ammo, so that Wagner ultimately fails and is usurped by regular forces who have been standing safely on the sidelines. Hence a possible reason for the Wagner group's pause.
