  1. Has anyone, throughout this debacle thought to ask the people in those Russian speaking regions of the Ukraine what they want. In the UK Scotland got to say whether it wanted to remain part of the UK, and I'm sure both Wales and Northern Ireland would be given a similar choice should they want it. Gibraltar, despite being tiny, isn't part of Spain because the people there don't want this. And Spain's treatment of the Catalonia region's desire for independence is generally condemned. So my question is are we going to edge ever closer to WW III when those in the Russian speaking regions of the Ukraine (and maybe also the Moldavian one) might very much want to be part of Russia? I deplore what Putin has done, but are we possibly fighting against doing the democratically right thing for these Russian speakers?
