  2. Being able to visit free democratic countries gives Russians an opportunity to see what life is like when one isn't living under a deranged, psychopathic dictator. So banning them from Europe might be very counterproductive, and instill a kind of bunker/Stockholm syndrome mentality in them. I've taught quite a few Russian students, and to be honest they were among my favourites. I've also worked with some great Russian colleagues. I doubt if any of these are Putin fanboys or fangirls.
