For around 20 years I was one of the very best software developers in the country. I worked in the City, and was very handsomely remunerated for my services. But even top notch people like me expected to find bugs in the new systems we implemented. In fact I was occasionally very surprised (amazed?) by just how few there were in mine. Those in charge at the Post Office should have expected faults in their new Horizon system, and this should have been their FIRST conclusion, rather than blaming 700 people of committing fraud. For not doing so, and wrongly prosecuting all these people they very richly DESERVE jail terms!
