Boris, old chap, let me explain how decent, honest people go about things. They know that the future often isn't predictable. So they draw up legally binding agreements, in order to make things a little more certain. This means that, if things don't go quite as expected, decent people honour the commitments they have given and don't unilaterally renege on them. Doesn't Eton teach wide-boys like you about acting honourably, keeping ones word, and honouring ones commitments? No wonder you don't want to shake hands, because there's that expression used by good people: "let's shake on it".
