Thank you Tom for mentioning that infections have remained within confidence limits. Though most people in this country won't understand what this means, it means that on this basis we would have to reject the hypothesis that the Indian variant is more infectious. While you haven't, unfortunately, directly contradicted the government, your comments make it very clear that there is no statistically significant evidence for any variant being more of a threat. It's also good that you remind people that the infections we are seeing aren't leading to hospitalisations or deaths, because this is really the only thing that matters. Here's a statistic that people might like to ponder. At the moment more than 5 times as many deaths and hospitalisations are caused by traffic accidents.
