  1. Sadly, there's one big reason not too be cheerful. No matter what the science or the data says Downing Street is absolutely determined to keep lockdown, and its dictatorial powers, going for as long as it possibly can. And they will use the flimsiest of excuses to extend the roadmap. I would bet good money that they will use the pretext of a "dangerous new variant", without any strong scientific evidence to support it, to push the goalposts well back.
