  1. A lot of how a virus spreads is down to networking. Is there any reason to believe that those coming back from India would not have spread whatever variant was dominant over there? Also, even if one variant is better at latching on to us than another, can we really say that a person wouldn't simply have caught a different one in its absence. It seems to me that it's a bit like removing the winner from a race; we simply end up with a different winner. Those of us lacking bright yellow streaks down our back are inclined to think that the fuss made over variants is very much like the fuss Chicken Little made when an acorn fell on his head.😉
