  1. Today I've read two estimates of the number of illegals in the UK. One says 1 in 100, the other 1 in 50. Even using the lower estimate, a back of envelope calculation suggests that this is costing taxpayers around £2.5 billion a year. That's many, many times the cost of pensioners' winter fuel allowance!
