  1. It's many decades since National Insurance did what it said on the can. When it did it was a tiny tax that nobody minded paying. But it has been totally subverted by successive governments, and grown to monstrous proportions, like a virulent cancer. An honest government would simplify our tax system by amalgamating N.I. into income tax and corporation tax. But when did we last (if ever) have an honest government? The more complicated a tax system is the easier it is for them to cheat and rob people.
