Because this isn't a court of law and we're not a jury. We can "think" what we like. We're not being asked to decide her fate on the basis of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. We're just watching a program and saying how guilty it looks. I'd go as far as to say you'd have to be pretty feeble minded to think anything else tbh.

@AmberRowe-gn5yd You have to learn to appreciate your own abusiveness in the scenario though. You seek an older man because of what they offer. Which is (typically) more material wealth/resources etc. That in itself is a form of dehumanising abuse on your part-because you're viewing the man as a utility. For what he can provide you with rather than who he is as a person. It's a very common female evolved behaviour. So because you stand to gain materially, you overlook other aspects of the person's compatibility. And then you become frustrated when their personality traits don't align with your own personality. The problem is you only view their contribution to the flawed relationship as abusive and not your own. Thats not the case however. It's mutually abusive as you've both overlooked incompatibilities because you both felt you stood to gain some form of advantage by doing so.👍☺

@hippychick420 It's possible that both should have been arrested. But Gabby DEFINITELY should have based on the evidence the cops had. That's the material point. Let's just say if Gabby had been driving and Brian said to the cops "Yeah I basically assaulted her WHILE she was driving us...but she's not been very supportive of my vlog you see officer and she has these REALLY dirty feet which upset me.." (having just been witnessed veering all over the road)...I'm pretty sure the boy would have been arrested.

In all fairness, to be loved you really need to offer love. Otherwise you're driving a very unfair bargain. She wasn't offering love. She was offering manipulation, gaslighting and selfishness. If she 'loved' her killer she certainly wouldn't have been manipulating him, lying to him, gaslighting him, goading him etc etc. As a society we're dishonest about a lot of female behaviour and motives. At the end of the day, women are just as flawed and as ill behaved as men. We have no trouble accepting the reality of men's poor behaviour, however we're completely deceptive and dishonest about female poor behaviour. We prefer to think of women as innocent and pristine perennial victims (nb it's women who peddle this narrative the most, despite it being women who are most aware of female nature). This does untold damage to the men's lives it affects. The young lady in the video was a baby trapper. She was determined to manipulate the killer into a relationship/future he clearly didn't want. When a man does this we call it coercive control. Women can virtually get off with murdering a man now if they can prove coercive control. When a woman does it however we do not forgive the man, instead we deludedly call her an innocent victim. The internet is (thankfully) showing us a clearer, more balanced view of the world.

More significantly, women will have a full on melt down if you so much as set your beer down wrong on the coffee table. They do NOT casually ignore it when you (supposedly) turn the bed they share with you into something resembling an abattoir floor.

@emersonmanning6523 Agreed 100%. Fortunately we're now starting to see some (reasonable and very much needed) pushback on some parts of the internet. It's not a healthy situation where one sex is constantly demonised as the abuser and the other is always held up as the innocent victim. Where abuse occurs it should be called out regardless of gender (for EVERYONE'S safety) and here it was very clear Gabby was happy to do her share of punching too when she wasn't getting her way. I think most blokes know that's the reality of the situation. They're far more used to experience being hit by females than they are to hit females themselves. A more balanced commentary on this type of situation is long overdue. Abuse has effectively been redefined by the media as something that happens exclusively TO women BY men BECAUSE they're women. And clearly that's not the observable reality of most people's lives. Ironically if Gabby had been treated with less preference/female privilege by the officers-ie been arrested for her admitted assault of Brian, it's possible she might still be alive today. Instead the intervention was very light touch because she was female-which meant she carried on straight back to her vlog and them assaulting one another.

Fair! A sad tale all round, this. A female with mental problems anaesthetising herself because she was prostituting herself in order to be with an old doctor. A doctor who was completely self absorbed, unethical and unscrupulous. A mom who knew the score and went along with it anyway because of the upside she and the daughter clearly identified in the association with the doctor.

Wow!!! Really biased subtitling of this one already. Kendy "ONLY" 22 when she married Dan....suggesting she was young and easily dominated by an overbearing partner. Yet she was ALREADY coming to the marriage with a daughter from a previous relationship. Don't know the ins and outs of the case but looks like it's being tee'd up for the usual "all women are Snow White/all men are abusers" narrative...

Our society is completely gynocentric. Women aren't held to the same standard's under the law. Fortunately we're starting to see attitudes (gradually) start too change.

PS if I was her husband I wouldn't just be sleeping in a different bedroom I'd be sleeping in a different time zone.

Perfectly valid narrative. She was divorced 3x, an alcoholic and a domestic abuser. It would have been better if Bruce could have just had his daughter and been "free of Barbara" but the courts don't generally permit that sort of outcome. They prefer to give primary custody to women even if they're abusers-just as here. It's actually a very favourable narrative that doesn't condemn abusive women enough.

@charrielyn1231 Yes, it's far more common than we'd like to admit. Statistics show that, where DV is perpetrated, it's likely to be two way. ie both the male and female partner hitting each other. Where it's only one way however (ie one partner being violent), it's slightly more likely to be the female partner being violent than the male partner. We just don't take DV perpetrated by women seriously enough.

@CarmaCat2024 I think this naive view is falling out of favour now. The statistics on women choosing to have children outside of stable relationships are well publicised, as are the statistics on women who break up relationships where children are involved.

Just to re-frame though, does the solution you're looking for involve you having custody of the kids/taking the kids away from him? Because really thats no fairer than him taking the kids away from you/controling you. I find-when you strip away a lot of these things-what women are really looking for as a solution is to have absolute control themselves. And really thats precious little difference to the thing they're complaining about from their partner. Just being real. You'll get hundreds of likes and people telling you to "just leave with YOUR kids" though in this comments section I'm sure.

@StofStuiver Well laid out and beautifully reasoned. Don't expect a response which addresses the argument though. Just some nonsense about misogyny, or some personal anecdote of suffering that doesn't disprove a perfectly valid population level observation. And that's at BEST. The reality is a lot of female behaviour isn't very flattering. It can involve a LOT of naked exploitation and greed. Controlling behaviour is a big part of that. In today's climate when they complain of "being controlled" it frequently just means they aren't achieving as much control over the man as they would want/expect. Women really don't like it when you hold a mirror up to them though and point this out.

@kimberlykidd3755 Sort of correct. If you're someone who has to trap/manipulate then it's fairer to say it's you that isn't worth having/don't deserve the other person. If you get my meaning. We do have an issue in our society with women being (constantly) told they're perfect whatever way they are and it's the man at fault for not making her feel like the centre of the universe etc etc etc. It's so normalised now it barely gets noticed. But the harsh reality is lots of women simply are NOT worth being with/don't deserve decent guys. Their behaviour simply doesn't support any other conclusion. Needless to say thats a terrible deal for a man. It's a horribly one-sided, unbalanced narcissistic model for relationships that seriously needs to change. We're very clear when men aren't felt to be worth the effort of a relationship (women are unapologetic about this) therefore we have to start being clearer about when women aren't worthy also. We have to normalise that side of the equation too. It's the only healthy way to co-exist. It will be uncomfortable for women to hear though so they will resist it at all costs and (doubtless) claim misogyny.

I'll provide the TL;DR Michael - Easy life. Family business which he inherited (ie didnt have to strive for). Lots of money which made him attractive to women. Clueless about why women were attracted to him (thought it was because he was special and not because he had money-which in turn made him narcissistic) Relentlessly thought with his pen15. Murderer. Jan - Principally attracted to the lifestyle on offer. Couldn't afford a swimming pool without him. Forgave Michael's affairs for material reasons. Priorities all wrong. Angela - Fell in love with Michael when she saw his swimming pool. Baby trapped him to dissolve his marriage. Had bought a new swimming costume and was ready to move right on in. Pretends butter wouldn't melt. Angela's husband - don't know where to start. The kids (of both families) - My sincere condolences. You've all been treated horrendously by some very poorly behaved and selfish adults. That about covers it.

@colormetakenaback I think it was unthinkable to her principally because she prioritised the vlog, and Brian was part of that. It was acceptable to her to participate in mutual violence in service of continuing to generate blog content. Needless to say this was an absolutely reprehensible way to live and had horrendous consequences as their mutual violence escalated.

The State are clearly satisfied she's guilty. They just know they can't prove it to a criminal standard any longer due to the loss of evidence. I think they just abandoned it in the end because she'd already served 20 years. That's something at least! The fact her "innocence" team wouldn't make themselves available for comment tells a story of its own. As does the fact two of her children testified against her and her defence was based on the other child being responsible. A truly ruthless manipulator! Incidentally, re: her response to the massive pool of blood on the mattress ("He told me he'd had a nose bleed once") Ahem Said no woman EVER before or since! @trinleywangmo They're satisfied she's guilty. They just don't believe they can prove her guilty any longer (because certain evidence has been ruled inadmissible). They're philosophical about it because she's already served 20 years. Not worth their time any longer. No more complicated than that. You're just confused.
