Thats a good point-and frankly it's a shame because emotional growth is a positive-but I think the main issue there is the internet has exposed how asymmetrical that is in heterosexual relationships. In Western society heterosexual relationships are-virtually exclusively-men ministering to women's myriad needs and emotions. It really has become apparent how little women care about mens needs (or desires). So that only becomes attractive again if there is significant effort from females to meet mens needs once more. And let's face it, if it's relying on effort from females that is simply not going to happen.
