Just imagine how many "wrong" women there are out there. All eager for marriage because they only stand to gain. Truly terrifying.

The opening words to Pride and Prejudice are meant to be ironic. They're the opposite of what they mean. Despite his status, Darcy is NOT looking for a wife. He's actually resistant to the idea and fighting his better judgment.

@JB-jg1tc No. But I suspect you haven't read the book whereas I have. It's a commentary on societal expectations at large rather than the female perspective. Darcy is the most established/highest status man in the book from the outset. We're dealing with hereditary wealth and title after all. He isn't building his status or material wealth in the hope of attracting a wife. He has all the wealth and status and is actively avoiding at least 3 named suitors. In vain as it turns out in the case of Elizabeth Bennett but then that of course is the central love story. It used to be my favourite novel but sadly it's a blue pill nightmare. Theres only one major red pill moment in it that justifies my reading or watching it any longer.

"All men are awful". Simultaneously Women = still desperate to get married. I wonder why that is? I wonder who stands to gain most from marriage? Guess who STILL dissolves most marriages? Men don't need this nonsense any longer. We can see the sh!tshow for what it is. Incidentally Orion....the opening words to Pride and Prejudice are meant to be ironic. They're the opposite of what they mean. Darcy is NOT looking for a wife. He's actually resistant to the idea and fighting his better judgment.
