@karim3343 i said nanobot stuff, not nanotech stuff potential is great for sci-fi. And that's what MOST of these types of talks are about, just some futurist geeking out about technologies that have been perpetually 20 years in the future for the past 60 years THIS talk however is different, because it's real. These are viable technologies, much closer to fruition than the panacea of the nanobot-fucking-rapture. i can say this precisely because i really do "understand the concepts involved".

@karim3343 Most of what THE MEDIA says about it is hype, and when they overeagerly suggest it's something that we'll see soon - then yeah that's BS. But that's just the media (and what else is new). I wouldn't say those things about the tech fields themselves, those guys do good work. But it's just not comparable to stuff in this video which is in medical trials RIGHT NOW. I'm just kindof asking ppl to stop praying to their Singularity gods for a second, so we can all cheer THESE guys on.

this is an excellent talk, is a great summary of the kinds of truly realistic medical research and developments that are currently in development. Very little of this is pie-in-the-sky nanobots stuff that we normally hear about, the vast majority of this talk is quite real. very nice.
