  1. what does the word "censored" look like in mandarin? I imagine i'll be reading that word a lot. haha i maek teh chinese joeks! No but really, it's what actually puts me off from brushing up on my mandarin. Whenever i read it online - i know i'm reading self-censored thoughts, things written by people who are too afraid to write the truth. Feels bad man. China, pls grow up faster :(

  2. Hmm, i never even considered learning to read Chinese without being able to audibly SPEAK it. Sure saves time. And in our information age dominated by the internet, being able to read it is so much more important than speaking it. We could just pretend to be deaf.
