But if you're surrounded by round stones all the time, you will instead take the only jagged stone you have ever seen. Because what your brain really wants is something "special", something novel, this stone isn't like the others so it is important.

Nuclear weapons are hard, but evolution has been doing Bioweapons forever, it's hardly difficult. We are surrounded by them. Trying to restrict information in this field is a bad idea. You can't ban nature itself.

@Random our preferences are somewhat ruled by rareness, depending on personality traits. Look up psych concept of novelty.

5:55 Correction: The new mosquitoes would actually have a reduced Bloodlust. The Malaria plasmodium has an effect on mosquitoes themselves too, it makes them a lot more aggressive, so eliminating malaria will (on the whole) make mosquitoes calmer & less likely to bite you.

Is this what's been killing bees? Crops with pesticides inbuilt, killing bees that feed on them. And crops that are resistant to pesticides, so we happily drown them in pesticides and ensure that any insect touching them (incl Bees) dies.

These sorts of predictably Catastrophizing videos, really underline that Kurzgesagt is a system (like most others on Youtube) which is optimized for *increasing views.* That's basically the historical definition of "ART", in a nutshell. "Look! Look at me!" Meanwhile...

6:12 "or float" Not true. Increased gravity will mean that things that float will find it EASIER to float, not harder. It's like the "Helium balloon in an accelerating car" experiment.

@Random I disagree with the video. Edit: or rather, was just unmoved

@Random nah I found it more opinionated than anything else

Cool content dude, i love this topic. But you're being a bit click-baity in your cliched automatic "Oh Nooooo!!" conclusions. Please, can you not? LAZY! It's a complex topic, don't do the lazy thing of defaulting to "oh noooo!!" Can't upvote this video, sorry.

6:54 >"made them less sensitive to insulin" Did you mean to say MORE sensitive?

"Geoengineering: A horrible Idea We Might Have to Do" but also 7:11 "...But blankly opposing geoengineering is short sighted" Clickbait-Titleing makes messaging difficult. Knock it off!

Almost everything that Black Holes do, STARS also do exactly the same. They're really not that scary. It's just Gravity.

Stop focusing on PLANETS, who needs 'em?! Answer: We wouldn't focus on planets. We'd set up orbital habitation facilities, loooong before we ever looked at terraforming a planet. They work anywhere, planets don't matter. Honestly not even STARS matter, you can have ample fusion energy without a natural star. We could easily inhabit the blackness of space in-between star-systems, even inbetween galaxies.

Troublesome concept coz it's hard to disprove. When someone says that something isn't beautiful, it often says more about the viewer than anything. There are people who can see the beauty in something, and people who can't . Even a shit can be beautiful, it depends what point of view you come at it from.

The sun won't destroy our solar system. We can do "Star Lifting", which is a way of mining the material from a star, making it smaller in the process, stopping it from destroying itself (and the solar system). Shh shhh, we got ya fam.
