Only-Nixon-could-goto-China, because his party had poisoned the well.  If progressives had tried to goto China, then Nixon's conservative party would have screamed about doing deals with Communist states.  "Oh those democrats are such communists they're doing deals with China to make America communist omg!".  You know it. All of the progressive things that Nixon did, were because his party had dedicated itself to campaigning strongly against these things - assuring that no-one else could do them. His party had essentially dammed the river for generations, and then when elected he removes the dam, THE DAM HE PUT IN PLACE.  And everyone is supposed to praise him for making the river flow freely?  He was the very problem he fixed, his party's obstructionism only stops when they are elected.  That's not democracy, that's racketeering.  It's what the mafia does with protection money: " pay us elect us or we'll break your legs stop all progress".

  2. Yet he would have shouted down his political opponents for doing the exact same thing. It's like the vietnam war thing, mentioned in the video.  The only reason Nixon was able to stop the Vietnam war while he was in office, is because before he was in office he sabotaged all efforts to stop the war.  It's the same thing with China, if the democrats tried to open ties with China the republicans would have campaigned hard against it with their typical anti-communist rhetoric.  They are an insanely obstructionist party. It would be more accurate for you to say this: "China, China, China. Had he not stopped his anti-communist rhetoric against China the world would be 100% different today" HE WAS THE PROBLEM
