"Department of Defense" is always a good one, implying that our nations are never the military aggressors (as that would require a "Department of Offense").

@ctmalton1513 it's Entitlement because it's starting with the assumption that a country deserves to attain whatever it's interests are, even if they have to steal them. It's starting with the assumption that the country's interests already belong to them automatically, and thus any action taken to aquire those interests from another person or country are instead categorised as "taking them for their rightful owners". The Entitlement is the incorrect implication that you are it's rightful owner, the word defence implies that you're not the aggressor but are instead merely defending the status quo, the status quo in this case being the wacky assumption of "everything that i want, is automatically mine, and i am justified in taking it from anyone else". But to take things that aren't yours isn't "defence", it's stealing. If i want your car so much that i steal it, no-one says i was defending my interests, they say i stole it.

@ctmalton1513 that's just another way of saying "goals". The only thing it's defending is someone's expectations. "Defence of a country's interests" is a grandiose way of describing someone's feeling of entitlement when they try to take something that isn't theirs.

@ctmalton1513 When you combine it with the word "defence", implying that the status-quo is already "everything is already mine", it's more apparent that it's entitlement. "Defence" contains an implicit assumption about what the status-quo is, about who already owns what. It's not so much "i will take this coz i can" as much as it's "this was already mine the entire time". It's like if i stole your car but said i was "repossessing" it, implying that the car was somehow already mine and infact you were the one who had previously stole it from me, thus i'm merely acting in "DEFENCE".
