  1. What about the angle at which you jump tho?  If you jump straight up, then you get the max height and max hangtime.  But if you jump forward, then that takes away some of the energy from your jump's height, lowering your hangtime. Michael's "infamous jump from the free throw line" obviously wasn't a straight vertical jump, if he were to reach the net.
