  2. This seems legit. It's very simple what they're doing, it's just a reliable & reproducible way to pre-concentrate & collect breath samples. What's exciting about it, is that this could be a much easier & simpler alternative to a blood test. Think about how great it would be if Doctors could take a routine blood test everytime you visit, without needing to have a painful arm jab (that also requires extra training/technique & a sterile environment on the Doctor's part). If tests were as easy as this, we'd all do them much more routinely and doctors would have would have a lot more information to work with. They'd be able to catch and treat disease much better. It'll also lead to more medical discoveries, because all of this data can be put into computer models which can find new patterns. We'll end up finding out stuff like (note: fictional example) maybe Alzheimer's disease is almost always predicted by a drop in Folate concentrations (seen in breath tests) 5-7 years before any symptoms show, and subsequent experiments then showed that a sudden Folate mega-dose at this exact time will immediately stop the disease progressing (reminder note: that was a fictional example). Devices like this will lead to all sorts of discoveries like that.

  3. Great thing about it is that you don't need a hospital for it. It doesn't even need a sterile environment (unlike a blood test). You could do this at home, school, work, and the collected samples can be mailed to your Dr or a testing clinic. Because this doesn't require any training, learned technique, nor a sterile environment, it can allow you to do easy medical tests in all sorts of everyday situations. Also because it's not painful, people will have no hesitation being tested (unlike a blood test which can be a bit of an ordeal). All of these sorts of factors combined will lead to a huge influx of data for doctors & medical researchers. This is a good thing, because these-days we have computer models which sort through this sortof data and find new patterns we never even realised where there.
