@dawnsmith4000 Technically, in Vayikra, it says that they are unclean to us and are an abomination to us and those who touch it shall be unclean...until evening. It does not say that you will die. Nonetheless the majority of those in China do not follow Judaism (the only religion that follows all the laws of the Torah), or Christianity (which replaced the Old Testament for the New Testament--for many reasons, the fact that it made life easier is not to be overlooked as one of the more appealing aspects of the new faith at the time). I am not so sure religion plays a role in this, as if patient zero did get it from a (disgusting) bat, and was Chinese, it is just part of their culture. Of which all of us should be tolerant, regardless of our faith, as tolerance is one thing all faiths have in common.

You didn't go through it alone, you just grieved the loss differently. Focus on teaching your boys that is is ok for men to grieve and why it is so important to. And to be there for their partner, whether or not she asks for help. Communication is very important and no one is a mind reader, but kids learn from their parents actions, so it is our job to show them good examples. Your husband's mother may not have done all that she should or could have, but she is from a different generation. Miscarriages, especially in the first trimester are very common and generationally, we deal with them very differently nowadays. Just as men didn'teven come into the delivery room until thelate 70's/early 80's. But miscarriages also serve a greater purpose. God only gives us what we can handle, and miscarriages are often nature's way of making things right. It could be that your husband wouldn't have handled having a child with special needs very well. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we have to look past the hurt to see the deeper meaning and be thankful for something that we don't even know we should be thankful for. Or haven't yet recognized. There are so many worse ways your story could have ended up. And you atleast have your boys to comfort you. Focus on the positive things. They will help you through the difficult times. Both of you.

Absolutely not. The only emotional aspect they should be concerned with are phantom symptoms some ppl may get as "cabin fever" is a real thing. And I am not referring to the word fever--just that people start to go stir crazy when cooped up. And if it is waiting to see if you may be sick, it can lead people to think their throat hurts, etc.
