When I moved to LA, there was a guy who worked at the local pizza store, and he is Mexican. I had not physically been in the store for years. I recently picked up curbside and he came out to the car. Not only is he still there, but he speaks practically fluent Hebrew now! He is a mainstay in our community even though he isn't Jewish but everyone knows him and he is one of us!

@talaverajr391 LOL, I know, right?? You should have seen my face while he was speaking to me un English and Spanish, chatting away, asking how I have been (he recognized me after years). While at the same time, speaking fluent Hebrew over his shoulder to the owner! He has been there for over 20 years, and clearly has a great memory and is good with languages. But Respect is right! His Hebrew is better than mine!!! He is a mainstay of the community. If he, God forbid, needed a kidney, everyone would line up to get tested. He is one of us!

@Adrian_Baez Unorthodox is one story about one woman's experience in the Satmar community. You can't base the entire religion on one movie.

@blah blah That is 100% incorrect. The religion has tremendous respect for women. Women are the foundation of the religion.

@talaverajr391 Your truth may be different from someone else's truth. Jews do not proselytize or actively try and convert. We have our own religion that we are true to and just because one guy (who was persecuted by the Romans as any history class will teach you), who was Jewish, decided to go another path and reject the laws he was brought up with and create new laws, doesn't mean that everyone believed him or followed him. That is how Christianity started. It is that simple. Just because we do not believe in the New Testament does not mean that Judaism is not a "viable" religion. In fact, Judaism is older. Again, we stayed true to our religion and we do not see a reason not to.

@talaverajr391 I don't understand why Christians feels the need to preach to us, or why Jehovah's Witnesses need to knock on our doors, but in those situations we can say no thank you and move on with our day. What I do find disturbing is when Mormons say that they are converting Jews in the grave and will go back generations and generations of dead family members and convert them to Mormonism. Judaism does not even believethat you can convert out of the religion. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Forever (through the line of the mother). So if we don't even accept living converts, we certainly don't accept dead ones. Aside from that, I actually like Mormons (the very few practicing ones I know).

@talaverajr391 It doesn't offend us, we just don't believe the same thing. And that is ok by us. It is when non-Jews try to convert us that it becomes a problem.... can't we all just do our own thing and get along??

Manchester has one of the largest Orthodox Jewish communities in the world watch Strictly Kosher, the series on YT about the Manchester community. You would enjoy it!

@talaverajr391 I think you have skipped a step... without jumping ahead, which law did he fulfill (we have 613, which he also, presumably, followed. Until he didn't. ). Why did the Jews need redemption and why should it have been through him? And what did the Jews need to be saved from?

@talaverajr391 No worries. But it is complete to us!

@relaxkid9497 I get your point, but we are not the italian mob.... once you are accepted by us and part of the tribe, we take you in as one of us and care for you as one of our own!
