In hindsight, those of us who watched it play out --and even those too young to remember it--the bottom line is that Charles always loved Camilla. And only Camilla. She was always the only one who could give him what he wanted. And while that was always the standard of the royals that one was always meant to overlook, Diana expected something else and could not accept it (which is fair enough). But the ultimate goal of overlooking everything for the sense of duty just was not in them. Nor understandable to the rest of the world as we watched it play out. It was, indeed, sad and tragic. But not surprising. And for many, not something everyone pitied. Until she tragically died. I will always remember they day the married. As well as the day she was killed. And only now have I started to accept Charles and Camilla as a couple. They waited so long to be together. It is, indeed, very romantic. And one gets the feeling that it was ultimately meant to be.
