The only thing that brought tears to my eyes on this piece was when you brought it up (and as I said poor Christa McCauliffe before you even said her name). We all still remember it like yesterday. It was awful as we gathered in the auditorium to watch...

  7.  @Psychol-Snooper  Sorry I was not clear in my point....I meant that we remember way back when when we heard it live as it happened. And all these years later it still drives my husband crazy. ESPECIALLY bc it was a politically motivated move (or that was the excuse atleast), that then ended up as an "alternate pronunciation" that became accepted in common vernacular today and is even in the dictionaries (yet no longer connected to Bush. It is just there...). There are a few words like that. But that is how languages develop and change over time. (I just had a similar conversation about the word, and usage of "Walla!" in many European and Middle Eastern languages. An adaption of the French word "voilà!" that we often use in English.)

  9.  @Psychol-Snooper  Wait, sorry, I just re-read it. Do you mean pronunciation or actual spelling? If someone wrote john-ra, I may lose my mind! But I have heard it pronounced that way. As a French speaker, I only correct my children... Macarons and Macaroons being the biggest fight in this house, but I think they just like to tease me (but they are different!!). Language evolves over time. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, but always interesting!
