  1. TSA is a deterrent. And in the US it is privatized and the jobs are farmed out to private security companies. Other countries actually have part of their police force or army covering that role. That is why the rules are always so different around the world, as well as how the officers perform their job. Many countries do a much better job at screening and give one a much better sense of security. Although there are plenty of countries that are just as bad as the US, if not worse.
