  1. How about they just show up to work and care for their patients? Not let bodies pile up with their family members left thinking they are still alive and being cared for? It is disgraceful what is going on in nursing homes right now.

  2.  @charg7316  If you have the space, time, and means to keep and care for your loved ones at your own home when they get to that point in their life, that is great. Unfortunately most people don't have an extra bedroom and bathroom on the main floor of their home (with wheelchair access), or the ability to quit their job and stay home 24/7 to watch their loved one, or the knowledge and capacity to offer the medical assistance they may need. Or all of the above. Those people have no choice but to seek out a nursing home. And they should not be shamed because of it. Nonetheless, the residents deserve to be cared for. Not left to their own devices while their loved ones, who are paying the bill and these people's salaries, are lied to by the staff.

  4. It is more likely that it is a patient who went to the hospital for something and brought it back with them after they contracted it at the hospital. Or from nursing staff who was picking up extra shifts at the hospital (either for extra money, or to help out, or both). Either way, it is shameful what is going on in assisted living facilities and nursing homes all across America.

Most grocery store workers--those who work at the large chain markets like Ralph's or Trader Joe's--actully get paid surprisingly well ($17+ an hour just to bag groceries), and get full medical benefits including dental! AND they are currently hiring! That cannot be said for most people, especially these days.
