Guilt. She felt she could have, should have, done more. She even tried and social services didn't step up. Social services should cover the costs for their therapy. They should not have to bear the pain and guilt of this tragedy. Especially for those who tried to call Social Services on him!

@helenyoung3871 Delexia?? Even if she were dyslexic, that is no excuse. Plenty of people are dyslexic and they learn how to cope. And once you have seen something already (the statement), and it becomes familiar, it becomes easier to read. Especially if it was your own statement.

The defense likely sat her there to prove that "a woman" was not fearful of him and was able to sit next to him throughout the whole trial process. It is a subconscious trick from the defense. Note how she is sitting on the far end of the table so she has to turn TOWARDS him (and the witness box, more precisely), yet doesn't recoil in disgust or show any fear. It is a form of subconcious virtue signaling.
