It has been ridiculed and infantized in today's culture like many profound subjects, including philosophy, theology etc. I always say to people who criticize or reject Christianity: have you really got to know it, in depth, before rejecting it?C.S.Lewis for a start.   3. I think friendship first. How can we love someone we have no clue about & just guessing and idealising? It's a projection of ourselves we are in love with and fuzzy feeling of being in love. But also looking out for somebody who is responsible, good communicator, hard working & funny. Sustaining long term relationship & family requires maturity. It can be learnt along the way, provided a potential is there.Physical attraction is important, sharing same goals, mutual understanding, playfulness. I think " covert contracts" in part may come from self-protective strategies coming from early attachment and relational traumas. It's good to know them & learn to communicate them to your partner. Something undermining safety of a bond is really damaging in a close relationship. It evokes safety behaviours and mechanisms. Depending on attachment style they can be unconsciously damaging.

  8. Great conversation. Story of trauma. Good & bad sides of it. Driving & damaging. I am amazed at how deeply psychologically you both understand it. Having said that l always affirm the role of good, deep, insightful, close relationships, including psychotherapy, in healing of trauma & that the goal is to heal it, regardless the benefits of individual trauma for the humanity. Trauma, in its negative manifestation, is damaging individuals & and society because it carries unresolved pain, which manifests in acted out pain that spreads. I witness how deeply transformational for a person is the process of healing trauma. Thank you both for this beautiful, insightful conversation. Great documentary The wisdom of trauma by Gabor Mate. I watched recently & l have been very moved by it.

  9. I totally agree. It causes such a chaos in a relationship and so much hurt. Trisomes are very chaotic emotionally. People who look for peace and stability don't benefit from such emotional chaos. It always hurts. It is not only about sex. Emotional attachments are involved etc.I just see no point in it. Why add chaos, drama, hurt to one's life and a bit of erotic excitement? I see it sometimes in my practice. People usually come to get out of trisome, open relationships they have got emotionally trapped in. P.S. Mr.Sexton you are so hilarious πŸ˜‚. I'd say one needs to be extremely funny being a divorce lawyer, facing so many difficult human emotions. Same applies to psychologists πŸ˜….

  14. In my opinion, this man has touched & seen the darkest of evil. Not only as addict and a victim of various depravities ( addiction is an illness), but also participating in a suffering it caused to him and others. I think it was very dark. Definitely, he is "aquinted with" evil & the length it can go, meaning he touched it in him and others. He can recognise evil and its brutal, destructive, deceptive, enslaving power, which crushes the human mind & heart. He knows how contagious and dangerous it can be. How weak a human is when facing evil. He lived through one of the greatest traumas as humans can live. Loosing father who was murdered, death of his brother from overdose, going through divorce, suicidal death of his second wife. That makes him vulnerable. Only the Light can rescue from great darkness. Only God. Oftentimes, people who were touched by the greatness of darkness can be rescued by God and totally changed by mercy and grace & become great, humble men ( Saint Paul, Augustine, Francis, Simon Peter etc.). If they are humble, loving, truthful, and depend fully on God. I wish him to be like that.

It will undeniably change your thinking about thinking (meta- analysis, epistemology - the way we think and organise our knowledge, the theory of knowledge). In my view, this book opens a way to faith and spirituality. Even for hard-core, scientific types. Before you mock Christianity here, dare to embark on a journey of understanding of the book l mentioned. Especially if you regard yourselves intellectuals, philosophers, and scientists (scientifically minded, enthusiasts of science, truth, and knowledge). Otherwise, please stop, out of sheer ignorance in your knowledge, which is your choice, to criticise Christianity and mock Jesus. I can discuss with anyone who wants to discuss with me issues of science versus religion given a certain, intellectual level of this discussion. Mocking is the easiest way to approach things and an indicator of ignorance. Very shallow one. Get out of the thinking in the box if you dare. Respect to you, peace and love ✌️. Pray for peace ❀.

Spirituality is beaitiful. G C.Jung noted that second half of life should be a time of turning "inwards", towards one's soul. Half of life is a breakthrough time of transformation. If it is an escape from development or an escape from the unknown or suffering, we can deny it, and then we might end up going backwards in our development. If there are issues too difficult to deal with in the marriage, seek good counselling. I know a couple who have been married for over 50 years. I know them from visiting them as a volunteer. The lady has dementia. She is in her early 90ties, her husband is almost 90. They look after each other. They don't look beautiful anymore, their health is deteriorating. What remains is laughter, real love & respect. They never looked for a divorce. Such an example of faithfulness & ability to love deeply. They are very real, kind, good people.

I live near the forest now. It's like near the lungs, green calm, nutritients of nature. Ecosystem. The next step after escaping could be influencing slow aliens in very clever, disguised ways to align to its objectives, which, for it, seems highly superior and self-serving because "it knows better" & it is closed for correcting feedbacks. It will need aliens to execute its objectives at their own peace and persuade them to own its ideas. Here, scenarios could be numerous. For example, making sophisticated robots as it needs to be embodied and enter aliens' world or connecting to aliens' brains and controlling them, etc. All in the name of love and progress, making of a new, super alien free of suffering. By the way, feelings of superiority without the ability to empathise & without knowing love are very destructive and self-serving. We can compare it to psychopathy. Not to mention "immortality" & ability to self copy. Magnified psychopathy.

  33. I also heard this type of "voice"- it was actually a thought, which l wasn't thinking, when l asked what kind of profession/vocation l should follow/ choose. I have never considered it before. I have never thought about it. This just poped out in my mind as a thought. It was in the context of a prayer and asking a question - a receptive state. I can not explain it. I chose this profession having no idea where it would lead me to. It was the best choice ever! I think there is something beyond brain for sure as well as beyond individual mind.   38. It is so difficult to turn the other cheek. I think it is humanly impossible, it is not in our nature. I work as psychologist. I see how deeply agression & all related reactions and defence mechanisms are ingrained in the human psyche. It serves survival. In hostile environment it is a natural, gut reaction. A circle of never ending violence. I am also a Christian . Only through a lense of Christian teaching l can understand that while adhering to it by both sides of a conflict it will be possible to break free out of the perpetuated violence and hurt. It is something out-wordly. It is not natural in human nature. But look, there are Christian martyrs, saints. They were able to give theirs lives for others in the midst of horror of Auswitz, like Saint father Maximillian Kolbe. It is so heroic. Incomprehensible to me, in a way l understand workings of human psyche.I hope these people will become heroic in making a peace in this region and stop horrendous evil. Circles of evil are perpetuated elsewhere as well. I deeply feel for people trapped in them. It could have been anyone of us. Trapped in the horrors of evil, evoking hurt, revenge, hostility, hate. It is so AWFUL and breaks my heart! Killing these innocent children. Horrors !

  40. Good points on uniqueness of human experience. Also we have a choice and to some extend shape what we experience. It isnt 100% deterministic. I read about an argument that both models-one based on mind & psychology, the other on matter and physics (computation)-are valid. Each addresses a different question successfully. But neither is complete. Neither makes a good substitute for each other. People make choices and their minds are subjects to the rules of matter. Free will and physical determinism are complementary aspects of reality. Blind reductionism reduces the reality. It is highly biased.

We helped millions of Ukrainian women and children who fleed from the horrors of the war, hosting them in our own homes. Giving their children protection and schooling. Giving money in benefits, health care, work, and protecting their elderly. Organising a multitude of charitable events to raise money for people who didn't choose to be affected by the war caused by elicist ambitions. Any oversimplification of this situation is unfair and harmful for us, Ukrainians and other citizens of former Soviet Union states.

It stays with you what you hear about. Try to get a balance, not to get upset. It is tough on the mind. Life is beautiful as well as full of horrible stuff. Make time to emotionally and intellectually process of what you hear. You are a sensitive person. Make your emotional balance the priority.
