  6. A family of Sikhs were the first Differant people I saw as a five year old on my way to school. There she stood in her doorway, dressed in beautiful colours, adorned with gold in her nose and her ears..with the biggest smile as our eyes met. A Princess in real life! The next Morning there she was again, waving to me and my brother to come, look here, in her arms she held a huge silver tray full of delights I had never seen before, all her young children laughing and pointing at the tray, then at us indicating eat one and see! We did! They were her homemade treats. I loved her. Each morning she would be there, we ended up becoming friends with her sons.

One of ten children, mother never had much money but she had a lot of pride! We all started working odd jobs in groups to keep the house going. We learnt from a very, very young age that one has to work to enable one to survive. Not beg but work! One makes their own future. You also get the gift of foresight, seeing others and their motives.   35. I would travel to Brighton when I had one of my businesses. Suppling fishing bait, I would collect limpets, shuck them, wash then drain, weigh and bag them. I spent many years working both low tides and high tides (The back end of trawlers sorting ) if you wish to work towards a future for yourself and your children, you work hard for that.
