  1. I want NON-REWRITABLE archival bootable non-magnetic storage immune to any malware I didn't accidentally write to it. I still use DVDs for key files but a breakthrough like this would be terrific for safer storage of important information. For example I used to boot live DVDs for troubleshooting and to safely view files which might have had noxious payloads. (One can do this by booting to ram and Knoppix even has a toram cheatcode but not needing that would be more convenient.) With much larger storage businesses and individual (using them properly) could be much more resistant to upcoming intelligent ransomware and other cyber-weapons.
