Cashiers may not be experienced so I put on my "nice old man" mode and chat politely with them to show them parts they're confused about. Def get the manager and remember politeness is gold and saves money over time.

Law and lawyers don't work that way and PAP have plenty of funds to develop policies that work but keep the less skilled out of trouble. They're no some backyard outfit who can't afford legal counsel. BTW you don't need an angle grinder with the right recip saw blades (which I keep cool with a bit of water, blades don't need lube they need cooling to protect teeth from being annealed by overheat. For example cutting frame sections (frames are crushed with vehicle bodies so not a problem and the staff at my local PAP thought the cuts I made were a slick idea when they saw them while operating the forklift removing the drivetrain). I started working for a salvage and scrap yard in 1978 when all most yards had was a cutting torch so this isn't my first rodeo. I use the same Diablo blades my local PAP issues to their staff. I've detached a complete truck front suspension severing two box tubing frame rails with one blade and not smoke the teeth.. Also round metal cutting blades exist which are not abrasive and they fit circular saws (and often make straighter cuts than floppy recip blades) but I've not found need for one in salvage. Carbide and diamond grit blades are available too.

Interesting as my local PAP don't mind pics a bit and are a joy to deal with. I've spent several thousand bucks there but I'm a little fish compared to the guys who make serious money pulling several engines a week for resale. Something is fishy if a yard bans photos...

If you do not have shop liability insurance you can lose everything. Always do business in a businesslike manner.

That price in 2024 being "cheap" for an elderly junker is pretty grim.
