  1.  @suyashsingh6976  Russians would have generated far more sorties if they took pilot training seriously. Instead they could not conquer their next door neighbor. There is little evidence of Russian air force skill and to judge by the fat old pilot shot down over Ukraine they don't even prioritize physical fitness as the US does. Combat aviation is a HIGHLY athletic pursuit.

  2. They're easy to maintain. I did for ~22 years as a motor toad and crew chief. As long as parts are available it's easy to generate more mission ready aircraft than aircrew can use. I also worked F4 Phantoms which were very maintenance intensive, an important reason for their retirement because it required so many maintainers.

  3. F-16s are compatible with US weapons. Fighter duels are exciting but ground attack helps win wars.
