  5. Sounds like a Chrome problem. Browsers are free so I have many for convenient compartmentation, but Firefox with various extensions does the job nicely.

  6. I'm looking forward to Windows obsoleting more PCs for me to scoop up for couch money. The helpless can buy Apple and the techies will have no problem with Linux which is very low effort these days. Xubuntu is easy as it gets.

  8. Why wait and be under pressure? That's no way to get good. Install it in a virtual machine to find a distro you prefer, or boot from external media which also lets you back up your Windows files. I use a variety of OS and the more you learn the easier it gets.

  9. "Considering?" Just do it and run older versions of Windows in virtual machines for specific apps which never contact the internet. The only thing that needs internet access is a web browser.
