  1. Planning your life helps. I only net about $70K in SC but half that is disposable income because I am highly self-sufficient (anyone can learn) and repair and maintain nearly everything I own. Not choosing to be helpless is awesome and only requires determination.

  2. Cities are bad. Don't live in one. That solves many problems before they happen. The US is enormous so it's silly to live anywhere you don't have every advantage. Worked superbly for me. I could never afford to retire in city and would not want to because you have zero freedom and are trapped with people who are of zero benefit to your life.
