By the time one has life experience there isn't really much point in a relationship. When you're on in years there is no point in adding another person even of equal status. The reason is when you are in your forties you only have a few good years remaining and getting trapped in a relationship is an ACT OF FEAR. You're already on a sinking ship, why add passengers? A woman in her forties is close to expiration. So TBQH are most men but men can be content without women once youthful hormones (humans are just shaved apes in the end) subside.   9. I had a long contented career because I have the sense to shut my piehole. I don't care that it's isolating. I was strictly professional per armed forces regs and custom and all was well. I married a fine woman who worked in a different unit mine and had no workcenter dealings with after meeting her off-duty. My wise mentors taught me not to defecate where I eat. The military rules on fraternization are helpful there. Freedom of association inherently includes freedom not to associate.
