  2. Probably not but the idea makes our desperately naive public feel good. The Americans who built our ships sixty years ago are deceased or retired. Our public ignored trades education because chumps dreamed of office work (forgetting how easily that's outsourced). Modern manufacturing is not labor-intensive so the old model of employment is also deader than a pickled herring.
