Failure to properly fortify checkpoints for a full 360 degrees against nation state attacks, failure to ignore holidays and FULLY MAN the appropriate installations (remember the first YK war was also a holiday surprise), failure to train reservists to high standards, and other contributing screwups will have ugly career fallout on those responsbile. Also worth noting is a tiny state like Israel simply CANNOT have defense in depth without a heavily armed Jewish population with ready access to at least the battle rifle loadout common to about 20 million US AR owners and millions more of other models. Israel does not have US crime issues and is thus freer to arm the good guys. That was under recent discussion and now scenes of helpless victims hiding from Hamas with zero self-defense prove the point.
