The Founders had no problem with cannabis. The REAL reason legalization was passed is not personal freedom in which NEITHER party believes sincerely (or their legislation would so demonstrate). Because cannabis is seen as a cash cow the prices are artificially inflated by taxes. Making weed illegal increases profits for the illegal economy but so does making it legal but overtaxed. This is difficult for graduates of US public schools to absorb so they don't elect politicians who understand that reality. Always follow the money. Weed used to be as legal as the grass on our lawns and that was not a problem. The history of anti-hemp legislation has everything to do with money (like Hearsts timber holdings early last century) and nothing to do with protecting anyone.
