  1. FREEDOM and drastically reduced retirement overhead which does go much further than numbers. I live well BELOW my means so I could retire early and debt-free. I bought very modest old homes but on ten and five acre lots so I'd have the value of the land if I sell and enjoy the room and buffer from neighbors. My property overhead is my taxes, maintenance I also do, and electricity. BTW it bears reminding we CAN control having a pension by leading a methodically planned life. I grew up where it was expected that young adults would seek police, fire, postal and other civilian government jobs for the security. If any young person reads this consider that we work so one day we will be free of that burden then figure out the most direct route to secure retirement.
