  1. They'd have mostly been shredded by now anyway as it's 2023. Rarities and exotica are mere toys and those who want them should have bought then kept them. They're really just mass-produced consumer goods. OTOH CFC was a boon to auto salvage in the US. Unlike most I worked in the used car business at the time. The bodies, suspensions, interiors and electronics worth saving were typically stripped then the hulls with what remained of the drivetrains (external engine accessories were not required to be destroyed). Sentimental attachment to scrap metal is childish. The vast, vast majority of CFC vehicles were nothing anyone would miss but exaggerating the impact makes great clickbait. If you failed to collect the vehicle of your dreams that's your choice and a few more getting the chop still won't put one in your garage. Typical vehicle life is short not long, enthusiast outliers being irrelevant (and free to have bought then NOT scrapped whatever they wanted to save).
