  2. Play wisely and you can have high net worth on a modest income. I live well beneath my means and am quite comfy because I'm debt free. No one needs new cars so don't buy them or if you do choose wisely then keep it for a couple of decades (at least if you live outside the Rust Belt). If you don't hold the deed to your home free and clear you don't really own it so buy modest homes (and on as much land as you can manage) and pay them off early. I do not spend money to impress other people. I fully retired at 47 with a modest military retirement income and disability (else I'd have worked longer for fun, I enjoyed all my skills) because I always prepare for the worst and concentrated on living a "robustly capable" life. Anyone can do similar if they are coldly determined and studious. I invented nothing but I do copy other effective people and would never be too proud to learn from anyone.
