  1. Great way to isolate the centers of those blocks from rapid emergency responders, logistics and construction vehicles. Cities are not static and even if every pedestrian walked that doesn't move heavy objects.

  2. Growth is bad for everyone who is not a developer. It ruins every reason people move to cities. They are free to live somewhere else. Nothing entitles everyone to invade everyone else's neighborhood. Crowding is bad. Packing people in like sardines is bad. If you don't like the living conditions imposed by humans who own property then DON'T LIVE THERE. The world is enormous. The US is enormous. I don't need to live in SF etc so no one else does either. When a place is full I don't move there. This is not difficult to parse.

  3. The problem with malls is the a portion of the urban public. It's horrifically wasteful of time, fuel and effort to drive to buy objects. Top tier malls filter out dengerous customers. Thinning the herd is good news for all concerned. Examine malls which do well, and examine their parent communities.
