  3. Firstly the FFL is very, very small an a country with few opportunities for military enthusiasts. Secondly FFLs image benefits enormously from Hollywood romance and deception by omission.(That's of course through no fault of the Legion, it's simply most people are ignorant.) Hollywood does not emphasize FFL's historic and ongoing mission which is neocolonialism, mostly competing in Africa over influence in former colonies. They're a fine modern fighting force ideal for those wanting that sort of very specific career doing that very specific mission style but hardly a model for entire nation-state militaries waging industrialized war and that is NOT by accident. To be great at what the Legion does requires specialization in what is really a special operations branch.

  4. Russia can shrug off such light losses. Compare to WWII when it often lost over 100K in single battles. It's not physically possible for Ukraine to kill or wound enough Russians to have more than local effect given the Russian population of over 146 million.

  5. Russians have the same options to turn their weapons on their officers their forbears had in 1917. They have the option to surrender or desert rather than invade Ukraine. It's a false equivalence to equate rapist and victim.
