@The_DC_Kid Sane Americans left that area decades ago because its doom was obviously inevitable. NYC is fine if you're rich. I'm not so I knew I would never have a future in that area and left long ago. You do know things have been getting steadily worse since the 1960s and nothing you could ever do will change that, so why live there?

The real solution is get rid of zoos. Animals belong in nature, not jail. Zoos like circuses need to go away. Anyone wanting to see anything can do so via computer.

@vjrei None of these immigrants are from the Middle East, they are from the Americas. They are not leaving in response to any US military action. They fled their own misgovernment but don't let facts stop you. Interestingly the immigrants from countries the US did invade tend to work out well because they have Muslim self-discipline, a trait unknown in Central and South America whose cultures are all economic failures.

@rebeccasantos1161 Sanctuary status is a choice by individual DEMOCRATIC mayors.

"We" don't "know" any such thing and Chinese construction is famous for cutting corners such that there are many videos on "tofu dreg" construction.
3
@rebeccasantos1161 Because THIS mayor is perfectly free to sign a NEW executive order rescinding that Democratic mayors mistake. Of course he's to blame along with every other mayor who did not rescind that order. He could end sanctuary status with the stroke of a pen but voters are too stupid to press the issue.

Nothing about that building was affected by presidential policy. You must have gone to public school. That building was built in 1927, two years before the Great Depression.

Radical Marxists took over in 1968 and today they are faculty. That's their right of course but I find it amusing the group who helped that takeover is now a target of the replacement generation. Unintended consequences are a bizzatch.

Leaders do what their voters supported by electing them. How's that sanctuary city working for them today? As long as Americans stay ignorant by choice they'll elect their own worst enemies. Why are you surprised when humans who don't read and only care about trifles get finessed?
1
Democratic voters of New York chose to be a sanctuary city, proving stupid games win stupid prizes.
1
That never existed, but the old version was composed of fewer populist ignorants. The Southern Strategy was suicide because as we see with the Dems the lower classes are savages best kept away from the franchise.

SO LEAVE. I left the metro area years ago. NYC was never good, it just goes into remission. The reason people are afraid to leave the familiar is they are cowards at heart. ALL of the USA is your birthright so go see some of it. I find it pathetic people cling to a place just because they grew up there so I didn't. Go seek your fortune! The rest of America can be amazing and contrary to internet fearmongering, quite affordable. NYC will never be affordable and you can't own a decent amount of land. Why are NY residents so pitifully clinging to a place they know they cannot afford to retire in? Cash out and escape. NYC crime has never and will never be fixed. NYC taxes will never be fixed and will get more expensive. What are they waiting for? It's only a city and there are plenty of those. I've been there.

I applaud the kind and generous Democratic voters of NYC for their amazing choice to be a sanctuary city and sacrifice their own children's education and future for the new migrants their elected leaders invited. I praise the Democratic voters of NYC for walking the walk of socialism they voted for and giving their last tax dollars to people who need it. Their choice to share their immense wealth is an example to others. States without their resources should send them more migrants in a team effort of kindness. Not everyone is willing to discard their children's future let alone pay for it out of their own pockets. Nice work.

They won't stop voting for Democrats. You don't stay poor for generations in the US wealthiest city by being intelligent, wise, self-educated or informed. Previous New Yorkers who were much worse off elevated themselves by study, self-discipline and teamwork but they were from very different backgrounds with very different values.
1
@lamontstanley5436 So when do you think they will stop electing the problem? Is this enough to change NY politics?
1
The idea booing in a SECULAR event that happened to take place in a church but is unrelated to religious affairs is a "desecration" is absurd. Anyone contending otherwise is obviously illiterate hence unfit for office. The (irrelevant to firefighting lest we forget) Attorney General showed upfor self-promotion. Good on the firefighters for protesting!.
1
Only street justice can force the enemy to leave. The government will not. Democrats are to blame.
1
@carlettesouthern-robert2992 They're Democrats therefore enemies of western civilization who do not care even slightly about MY rights, so I care nothing for theirs. They are enemy personnel, that is all and as Democrats unworthy of respect, empathy or oxygen.
1
@phalynwilliams4119 They voted for Democrats and when you vote for a party you vote for EVERYTHING that party does. Ed Koch (rest in pi$$) was a Democrat. The policy could have been rescinded by any NY mayor.

The replacement bridge should be all-steel and modular like military bridging for much easier maintenance and rapid future replacement in hours instead of days. No exotic tech required. Many WWII Bailey bridges are in use to this day. All US infrastructure should be designed for rapid repair, replacement and recycling because the cost of doing that is a trifle compared to the economic cost of disruption.

New York voters elected him therefore they appprove of him therefore they deserve him. BTW if states allow RECIPROCAL traffic laws by custom the Georgia tags mean GA rules apply.
1
Blue state governments cannot be trusted and AZ is saving NY many thousands of dollars for which it should be grateful. Blue state governments are simply unworthy of respect.
1
No one should be surprised. There is way too much money in play to expect integrity. City government needs constant outside watching or the mob will take back what it hasn't already.
1
Real Americans don't WANT to live in Blue cities so we GTFO if we began there. Find a Red state and go enjoy your job again. UNlike NYC you can afford property. Try buying ten acres in midtown.
1
Are you voting for Democrats next time? They did this do you.
1
Flooding NY with Dem voters ensured districts would so reflect. NEVER forget generations of New Yorkers betrayed their nation by voting Democrat. No one forced them and they could sweep every Traitorcrat out of office in a couple of election cycles.

For society legalization is a personal freedom issue. For government its a place to gouge high tax payments (while grocery stores, restauants etc can sell vastly more dangerous alcohol without similar punitive restrictions). As Americans get old they find what they did for fun in the '70s works nicely for the aches and pains of old age but politicians are all about the money for their pet projects. NYC has had "weed shops" longer than most current residents have been alive, they were just mostly on the down low operating out of small storefronts in minority hoods. Cops in those days were famously on the pad (some even did Mafia hits!) so most busts were for show. Ask anyone how things rolled back then.
1
The only people impressed by Guard deployments have no idea what the Guard does (so nearly everyone). If New Yorkers wanted security they would never vote Democrat again and go back to the good old days of the only thing that REALLY controls crime, police brutality.
